CAN TRADING FOREX BE A PROPER HOME BUSINESS? The simple answer is yes. FOREX trading is many things that other home based businesses claim to be BUT SO MUCH MORE. The difference is that we make our money every week, normally over 2-4 days, and only working a few hours a day.

Sucess Story

Started my journey in June when I turned 18, the legal age required to trade in Canada. Ever since I dedicated myself to the craft of trading I can say it has made me more disciplined in many aspects in my life. I had to come up with strategies to remove overtrading and that 9-5 mentality of trading everyday. It took me some time to realize that trading everyday exposes your equity to a high amount of risk no matter how good the setup looks. Fast forward to November life is great I am making 15,000 per month and I am a funded FTMO trader. This is a manifestation of my efforts and energy going into the trading career that I have birthed. I love my life soo much I am financially free and I can consistently generate profits from the forex market. I started trading live in September, September and October were net negative months but the month of October was the month when I made over 1000 dollars in a day, This post is mainly to inspire others to never give up. My future is going to be amazing by the time. Always stay focused and never quit on something that you cant go 3 hours without thinking about it.

FOREX COMPLICATIONS

I've been trading since march of this year. I am still searching for consistent profitability, but that all comes down to my mentality. Nothing to do with my skill.
Anyways, after finding myself here, 7 months since i started. I notice how many beginners over complicate forex. Writing down tons of notes , looking for the small and precise information and mostly overthinking. I fell victim to this too. But I've come to learn that a lot of that is irrelevant.
Honestly, what people don't talk about is chart hours and focusing on 1 pair. Wicksdontlie has a livestream I recommend everyone watch, I was in a separate discord group and learned all the basics, but from just watching his streams and watching the charts constantly (whilst making food , playing playstation etc) I got a proper understanding for what forex is and what I have to do to make it.
But the fact people don't talk enough about focusing on 1 pair makes me wonder? If you sit in front of your laptop for hours watching 1 pair move you will get an unbelievable understanding for how the market moves and how YOUR pair moves. You notice the same things over and over again.
I never studied imbalances, waiting for price to develop on higher time frames, lower lows and higher highs, patience, discipline, the different trading sessions (NY,LDN etc). All of that came to me naturally, from hours and hours on the charts, from backtesting and listening to Raja Banks and Uncle Ted's stream.
Don't fall out of love with forex because of confusion etc. It's all due to your mind overcomplicating things. Think of hours on the charts like hours playing football. You get up and kick the ball from a young age, not thinking of the complications on how to hit an outside the boot pass or knuckle ball etc. The more hours you spend doing it the better you will become and the better of an understanding you'll form. Not only on the charts, but an understanding for YOU. What YOU need to do mentally to achieve success. 10% skill and 90% psychology is most certainly true.
Enjoy your journey and prepare for a long ride full of losses and mental battles. That's what your signing up for.
GL.

Charts confusing? Here's how I trade without ever looking at a chart.

Charts confusing? Here's how I trade without ever looking at a chart.
Been getting PM's about how I trade without looking at charts. So here it is guys.
Say EUUSD is down -0.20% and -20 pips on D1 and -0.15% and -15 pips on H8. I now have a trade opportunity because I know two things. The price is low and the price is starting to go back up. I can buy.
TP/SL is simple. I'm aiming for zero and I take a long position. 15 pips for TP & SL and size my lot according to my risk management tolerance. Since Forex ranges more than it trends I know odds are I made the right trade. I don't touch the trade and it'll close with a profit or loss. When that happens I repeat the process having never looked at a chart.
To demonstrate here are a few charts as I get most are thinking I'm crazy. But this is what you're doing when you follow the trend. Hoping for uncharted territory to make a profit.

https://preview.redd.it/8ryw5lvqkjy51.jpg?width=2337&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=456efdeeb838fe0f5c5aa8aac405f7c776f08e62
Here's what you're doing when you aim for zero. Buying low, selling high & selling high, buying low. Price almost always will go back to the middle which takes all the guess work out of trading.

https://preview.redd.it/z79symlskjy51.jpg?width=2209&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb945390f2f3c031ae81680689eb7c30730ad9a7
If your profits depend on prices flying off into the vast unknown you're not going to make money because that's not going to happen often enough. If your profits depend on prices that happened just hours ago there's a much better chance people will want to make a deal at that price again.
Try it out. Trading really is as simple as buy low sell high. But you're not buying low and selling high when you follow a trend. Then you're buying high and hoping it goes into uncharted territory.

The comedy how I lost all my money in two hours

I'm trading for 11 months with pretty good success.
I never traded metals and forex before, just stocks. Today when gold started to consolidate at the last hour, I decided to scalp short it with a large amount, so I opened 100 lots. I haven't realised, in forex 100 (lots) doesn't mean "100 pcs", because I used to stocks and I went full retard without knowledge.
Seconds later, I realised it means 10 million dollars (1 lot = 100.000, and I had 500x leverage).
It moved up a bit and immediately I was down £4000. I scared as fuck and rather than closing the position quickly I hoped maybe I could close break even.
The market closed, and I waited for the Asian session. The gold popped like never before, and I lost all my life savings (£55000) in less than two hours. (including the 1-hour break between sessions).
If I count that I lost all my earnings as well, I lost around £85000.
Here is the margin call
https://imgur.com/a/XY5m4ZA
https://imgur.com/a/VSgmCSs
https://imgur.com/pRWl5g9
IC Markets closed my position partially in every 1-2 minutes until I shut it myself at £35.
You know the rest of the story. I'm depressed, crying and shouting with myself.
Yes, I know I was stupid, thanks. I just wanted to share this with you.

Edit: WOW THANK YOU, GUYS! I haven't expected this, but you help me.
Many of you asked the same questions, I answer it here:
- I live in Europe, and we usually trade CFD's, not futures.
- Currency in GBP.
- As you can see, this account made on IC Markets. They not just allowing you a 500x leverage, it's the default.
- You can ask me why I went against the market. Because gold is way oversold? Because I expected institutions would sell their shares before gold is hitting £2000, leaving retails hanging there. Also, as I said, I wanted to scalp, not riding the gold all the way down. If I had a loss of £100, I would close the position immediately. But when I saw the £4000, my heart is stopped, and my brain just freezes.
- I went for a revenge trade with my last £2k, and I don't have to say what happened. I uninstalled the app, and I give up trading for a while.
- Again, in the past months, I was cautious, I lost a significant sum in March, but I managed to recover. Made consistent gains, always with SL. This is just an example of how easy is to fuck up everything you did.
- I didn't come here for some shiny digital medals. I can't tell about my losses to anyone who I know in real life. I would make a fool of myself.
- Anyone who attacking me that it is a scam. Well, think what you want. I feel terrible and the last thing is to answer all the messages saying "You fucking karma whore". I don't give a shit about karma.

How does a beginner really begin?

I have $60 in cash, I am a minor. I've been watching hours of forex videos on YouTube, and I get the mt4 app on my phone and the program on my computer, because I heard about demo trading. I just have no idea what to do. I was interested in Fidelity as a broker but I'm not sure if they offer forex trading. I would like to know what the difference is between me who knows nothing(despite watching many YouTube videos) and you guys who actually do this regularly. Is it experience? If you must answer me with more questions please do I would be more than happy to talk

How realistic is my 2/5% profit each month goal?

Hello Fellow Traders!
A few weeks ago my college decided to drop me (M21) out because there was a mistake made by a third party which led to me not being in the school system.
I have been into trading cryptocurrencies for a few years now and a couple of months ago I came in contact with day/swing trading. In these months I got the basics down and began trading forex/indices on a paper trade account and doubled this account within a month (probably some beginners luck haha)
Since I'm out of college I have a ton of time towards myself. I want to make this time useful and teach myself a lot of new skills like trading, marketing and building websites.
Now my goal for trading is to start learning more about it, especially day and swing trading. I want to invest at least 5 hours a day studying the market, learning trading techniques and getting proper risk management in.
My question towards you guys is, how likely/possible is it for me to make a consistent 2/5% profit each month? And turn this into an income of let's say 20k a year (Given that I have created proper risk management, and studying at least 5 hours each day)
Thanks for the read, and if you have any questions just let me know! :)

Monthly Performance Discussion

Monthly Performance Discussion

https://preview.redd.it/e5n8a9bpggw51.png?width=1644&format=png&auto=webp&s=b55191100dbdb9fda112c2c0dfc5871ff50aafd0
I see a lot of people posting one-off trades on this subreddit, which aren't really representative of much in Forex. So I am posting a month of performance data, in the hopes that others do the same to start a discussion around longer-term performance.
  1. This was taken from my FX Blue account which tracks this trading account via Mt4 (for those unaware and want to give it a try).
  2. I should say that I am not taking the trades myself, the trades were done by an algorithm I programmed. It closes all trades on Friday hence the sometimes sharp declines in the balance. For anyone interested it is a simple trend-following strategy with some secret sauce.
  3. This month was very choppy (from my perspective) and it was quite evident in my equity.
  4. The account is a 1:100 leverage account but the strategy doesn't use more than 1:20. (Risk Management)
  5. The performance ended at +2.2% for the month (on a large account balance). I think this is important for people to see/know. Many newbies want to do 50% in a month and more power to them if they can over a long period of time.
  6. I trade 7 currency pairs (NZDUSD, EURUSD, AUDUSD, USDCHF, EURJPY, GBPUSD, AUDCAD). Although GBPUSD has been very mean to me the last three months I may remove him lol.
  7. The portfolio traded 202 trades.
  8. I must have spent 1 hour this month involved with it, which makes me happy.
As you can see you need a strong stomach to trade my strategy lol.
How has October been for you? How many trades did you take? What's your performance like? What do you think of my performance? (I know the equity curve sucks but *shrug* I'm fine with it)

Im looking for guidance for a trader with experience. (Read Please)

I'm looking for guidance from* a trader with experience. I'm 17 years old. I've been learning the markets for about 6 months now and when I turn 18 in 4 months, Ill be going hard on trading.
People will think I'm young and naïve about my trading. I admit there's a lot I don't know. In my opinion, the stuff I don't know. Are things you must learn through experience.
- What I am truly asking is if someone with trading experience would be able to maybe setup a meet with me so we can have a conversation and talk. If anybody was willing to be my mentor id literally be up 24/7 to learn from you. I would like to discuss a few things about my strategy and what my next steps should be from this point on. Honestly all advice helps
See i know my strategy works through backtesting and demos and I'm still refining my trading strategy but even then nothing is set in stone because I'm in my first 6 months. If i told this community i think i could hop in the markets and make profit with my strategy by making 1-3 trades a week. Id be laughed, memed and destroyed but i truly do believe that. Since I've started this journey I haven't been able to talk to anyone about cause nobody fuckin understands
- FOR THAT REASON, is why i need to talk to someone with experience. I will tell you my strategy and how i learned it and my whole plan. We can talk about anything forex related but if someone could sit down wit me for like a couple hours... that'd honestly be goated.
DISCLAIMER - Save your ''you wont be making profits, you'll blow your account, your to confident" comments for someone else. Trust me i know yo, the way i think i can trade is literally the most cockiest thing ever. That's why I'm scared. I don't know where I'm going to mess up. I feel like i got the byakugan of forex and some kunai boutta hit my blind spot. (if u get that reference your already successful in my eyes)
I also know that im going to lose trades. Obviously but I'm not concerned with my risk management style.

Now its time to do things properly.

Now its time to do things properly.
Reddit peps, I have a confession. Over the last while I've been kinda fudging results of trades tracked to give the appearance of worse performance than is actually achieved. Here's why.

See, I've wanted for such a long time to bring out the honesty in those who put so much effort into slandering me here on Reddit. To give them the opportunity to track results that are transparent and post them. It'd let them do what they claim, which is to show people the truth of my trading results. They've been very resistant to this.
First I tried to do it in the fairest and most objective way lettting them have demo accounts under their control that I could not manipulate and just copy over trades to them. I offered full access to my accounts and my only condition was that they share the resuts. I tried a few variations of this and it didn't work. So I moved onto less conventional ideas.
I started to set up accounts, link tracking and then bomb them (Or part bomb them and stop updating results and try to recoup some of my losses on the bigger ones). My theory was if I bomb a few accounts, they'll then post the links. These are "hot links" and I can change the accounts attached. So I'd let them post some links and then add some accounts to trade properly.
Then either they can have the links they posted showing the truth (Thier stated goal) or they can delete the links when the trades are shown to be profitable and .. well, we get the truth one way or the other. It's my theory most of the posts making dubious claim about me a) Come from one person. b) Come from someone who would not embrace an honest test. I've positioned to test this.

The other day I got what I was waiting for. They posted the links from one of the more active of the alt accounts they use.

https://preview.redd.it/gf1xvhep18v51.png?width=596&format=png&auto=webp&s=83e48504f5b2b2e5f639265e0680532ac36508d0
Here is the link to this. It is currently up. If it is not there when you click it. "Deleted by user", that's the truth for you. https://www.reddit.com/SPXsignals/comments/ja8mug/rspxsignals_lounge/

Once this step was done I turned back on the comments on my posts. I needed a litte more and for me to get that I needed to get some comments on the go. Predicably enough, along comes an alt. A new one this time. This alt tells me they have nothing to do with the poster in the image above.

https://preview.redd.it/c0fjuxk928v51.png?width=595&format=png&auto=webp&s=759504d263885b30506008c092c454ca8d006057
Then alt 2 made the same post on a thread I made and then everything was set. Time to break cover.
https://preview.redd.it/zcuybvjm68v51.png?width=510&format=png&auto=webp&s=c74a28f1e06fdd547a624baed926331440cfa460

Within 10 seconds of me posting this, the comment was deleted. That's why I took screenshots before I said it.

Then our fresh faced alt steps up with the copy and paste of the exact same post. Link is currently live. I won't delete it, we'll see if it stays there. https://www.reddit.com/use2020sbeacomments/jh7npb/telegram_channels/g9yqq12/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I'll let you draw your own conclusions on all of that.

Here were the last updated results of the linked acounts. This was what it took to get them to post the links.

Here are the applicable lnks;

I'll leave these as they are for a little while (About 12 hours from now). If you check the trade history of these accounts vrs my posting history you'll see none of the losses made were from trades I posted. Actually sometimes I inverted the trades I posted to generate losses. You can see this in the "History" tab and of course you know how to see my Reddit posts.
Heading into Monday I will attach new accounts to this and we can then run phase two of the test. I could just upload accounts already running and proftable to this, but I think it's best to do everything in real time and in the open. From now on I will be trading the same positions as I post and tracking the results of these.

You can find these results at the links above as of Monday.

Now I'll trade and track results properly and we get to do a proper experiement into the real motives and nature of everyone involved. I've said it for months, the truth of people will be revealed by their own actions. Just a case of waiting untl the time is right. From now on I'll only trade the things I post in my subs/forum. No messing about. If they bomb this time, I suck. If not, let's see what happens :)

I am trying youtube and online selling na din pero di pa sya pumapatok so ayun. Feeling ko kasi eto yung future na kung saan ang mga tao kumikita nlang online. So dapat matututo din ako. Goal ko sana maging milyonaryo na before ako mag30, so i only have 3 yrs to hustle and grind. In laymans term lang po sana tayo. I’m an Equities trader and Forex trading seems impossible to me

This is an admittedly strange post, but the sentiment in the subject has been bugging me for a very long time. I’m an equities trader and I rely heavily on momentum, L2, and volume for my trading in addition to typical TA tools like levels, indicators, and patterns.
I’m struggling to understand how people trade Forex effectively. My understanding is that Forex markets have no reliable volume and no real indication of order flow. When I look at a Forex chart or examples of Forex setups/trades, I just see what looks like unpredictable chop. I also don’t see much structure by way of different setups or trade types, just longer term (hours or days) support/resistance levels that seem to more arbitrarily break or hold compared to in play equities.
My question is: what am I missing such that people are able to trade Forex successfully without order or volume information?

Another rant about forex expectations and work ethic.

This will be another rant following my previous post about the expectations some people have when going into forex.
I started trading just over a year ago. I did not go into forex thinking I was going to get rich quick. I knew it would be a massive learning curve and it may take me upwards of 5 years to make any sort of money. Because I accepted these facts before I started, I did not get frustrated at any point during my learning journey. I did not feel helpless when yet another one of my techniques failed. I didn’t quit. I knew I just had to keep going and eventually, I would see success.
I also knew that as long as I remained consistent I would get there NO MATTER WHAT. You also have to want it bad. For the past year, I have woken up at 5am every single day before my rubbish warehouse job, and studied. Same in the evening. Why? Because it gives me more time to learn, and the more time = learn quicker. On my days off I literally sit all day and study/trade.
A lot of people come into forex thinking they will be able to quit their job within a few months, but their effort doesn’t reflect that. If your only putting in 2 hours a week to learn it will take a lot longer than someone who puts in 20 hours a week. And enough of the ‘oh but I don’t have time for that!’ - everyone can find time, as I mentioned with myself I work 50 hour weeks but I get up earlier. Simple as that. If you truly want something you will do whatever you can to get it.
To all new traders who are just starting out - accept that this may take years. Don’t get upset at other people who are seemingly millionaires after a year. They aren’t.
Rant over.
